Hungry Ghost Festival.

Just a sidetrack away from all this attention on that damn bug. We still need to write some decent post, well, once in awhile. So enough of Ah Joo, we'll get back to him later. As we all know, its the month of The Hungry Ghost Festival or to me its Ozzfest or Hellfest(metal heads will know wad im talking bout).

This festival that falls on the 7th month of the lunar New Year is celebrated mainly in China and other countries like Singapore & Malaysia. It is believed by the Chinese that during this month, the gates of hell are opened to free the hungry ghosts who then wander to seek food on Earth. Some even think that the ghosts would seek revenge on those who had wronged them in their lives. The reason why the Chinese celebrate this festival is to remember their dead family members and pay tribute to them. They also feel that offering food to the deceased appeases them and wards off bad luck. This year however, its happening TWICE, due to the double seventh month occurs because the lunar calendar assigns an extra month every three years to balance the lunar and solar cycle. This year, the Ghost Month runs from July 25 to August 23, with the leap seventh month stretching from August 24 to September 21.

The brave and talented amateur journalist, +1, was sent to Selayang to take some photo's of this celebration. He hates this crap anyway, which is why i'm the one writing it.... and i'm loving it. What better way to spend my "busy" weekends rubbing shoulders with dead souls, sharing a few drinks with drunken ghouls and small chats with the ju-on boy. Our naive and innocent +1, armed with his ....ahem... Sony Ericsson K750i, braved thru this assignment like a renegade soldier. But he was took back by a sight which scared him for the rest of his life. A sight of 2 pigs and a goat.

+1 is now sleeping in a fetal position in his dark room crying himself to sleep. That will do +1, that will do. You've did good. Well he still managed to take more pictures during that night.
